Title: Avast! might not be up to date
Post by: Francisw19 on July 07, 2004, 04:14:31 AM
Hello,

I have Windows XP SP2 RC2 on my PC.

The "Security Centre" in Windows XP informed me that my virus protection is out of date.  When I right click on the blue ball and go to Updating -> iAVS Update, it goes through all the motions but says I am up to date (0427-2).  However, when I open the Security Center, it says I only have 0427-0.  Also, when I open the Avast! main window, it too says I have 0427-0!!  What is the problem?  Is there a way to fix this?

Thanks,

Francis

Simple thing to try is to restart the computer.

Hello,

I tried installing the update file, but that didn't turn out good.

I ended up reinstalling the software.  Now it's fixed and up to date.

I just have one more question.  This only occured after I cleared my Prefetch folder and Temp folders.  After I restarted my PC, that's when Avast! appeared to have the confusion.  Does Avast! store some program files in there?!?

Thanks,

Francis

SP2 is not recognizing Avast and other av software correctly.
It also has some other bugs.
It is NOT recommended to use it at this time on system in a working environment, only on test systems.

The real problem here is SP2. Wait for the offical release and use that

No, of course not. It does not store anything important to the TEMP folder. Everything is in its Program Files folder.

Well this is not true. I believe it is recognizing avast correctly.
