Title: Avast versus other Av.

I have see that in some circustance Antivir PE is better of Avast and in other Avast is a super antivirus... but, how many virus detect Avast? Antivir PE +- 85000.

Numbers are meaningless, because different companies use different ways of counting detected virus.

Is it by family of virus or each different varient in the family.

You can't make a decision based on numbers alone. You have to not only check detection, but what different protection it provides, on-access, on-demand, email, IM, P2P, etc. The AV program must suit your needs or it doesn't matter how many viri it sposedly dectects.

This has been disused many times before, try searching the forums for the word "bulletin", basicly these tests are not to be taken to seriously, they are not accurate.
