Title: Avast Server vs Kaspersky Server??
Post by: spiritfly on April 28, 2010, 02:26:34 AM
I've tried both of them for some of my customers, and I must say that avast is far more professional than kaspersky, but why is it so expensive??

It is far more expensive than the kaspersky solution? One avast license is like 360$ or so, and one kaspersky license with 10 workstation lcenses is chepaer?

We've been selling Avast volume licenses since 2006 and while Kaspersky can be cheaper on some configurations, most clients save money with Avast. If your client is an educational, government, healthcare or charity I would suggest you contact a reseller for discounted pricing. It might make the configuration less expensive than Kaspersky. Resellers can also extend special discounts and promos.

well....
partially u give your own answer (this is just a way of viewing)....

you say avast is more professional meaning they put a lot more effort in the product.... meaning time and work.... which translates in a higher cost price to earn it back...
we are talking about a security tool that can prevent you from losing a lot more money if you get infected (when not using the security tool)

if kaspersky is so much cheaper you have to find out why they are cheaper....
are they cheaper because they have a faulty product but want to sell? or do they have such good business strategy that they can afford to lose money on selling their product?

Kaspersky also has a different sales model... they have a retail network which offers boxed retail products to many stores. Because of this, they may provide discounts to drive their own direct cost down to match the retailers.

IMO they have grown too large, too fast and are releasing products that don't live to Avast's quality. You can't buy Avast in stores...
