I can not get the program to update on Win XP SP3. Using version 5.0.545. Have
1. Repaired.
2. Uninstalled and reinstalled.
3. Uninstalled and used Avast remover. Reinstalled.
4. Uninstalled, used Avast remover.
5. Used AVG remover, Avast remover.
6. Reinstalled
Hopefully someone has an idea as I am afraid I have run out of ideas.

Problem Solved.
I went back to 4.8 and when it started to update it brought up the dial-up connection. Killed that and uninstalled 4.8 and back to 5 which is now updating. Wish some message in version 5, would have saved a day of trial and a lot of error.

good, although I'm not sure I understand what you did exactly :D

Well, my quick guess: he had "always connected" option checked in v5 before downgrade to v4.8... so, it didn't try to dial, just failed to update? ;D

possible yeah...but "always connected" is off by default, and I doubt he turned it on purposely if he's on dial-up...but who knows...
