What avast version are you using 4.8 or 5.0 ?

- You have done the right thing, 'first do no harm' don't delete, send virus to the chest and investigate.

- There is no rush to delete anything from the chest, a protected area where it can do no harm. Anything that you send to the chest you should leave there for a few weeks. If after that time you have suffered no adverse effects from moving these to the chest, scan them again (inside the chest) and if they are still detected as viruses, delete them.

So you monitor your system to see there are no adverse effects.

- What is the infected file name/s, where was it/they found e.g. (C:\windows\system32\infected-file-name.xxx) ?

how long has those files been in the chest?

which version are you talking? avast4.8 or avast5?

generally speaking the rule for leaving a file in the chest is 2 weeks. after two weeks, (or anytime before) double check them to make sure they are not a false positive, if they are still flagged as a virus then its safe to delete if you wish. But you can leave them in there indefinitly if you want.

if it was a file you actually needed you more than likely would have seen some adverse effects on your computer  once it was put in the chest.

you may want to wait to get others opinions first before doing anything though
