Title: Unfortunately, bad news for Linux users
Post by: RJARRRPCGP on July 15, 2004, 10:00:55 PM
Sad, but true, the Linux version of Avast costs around $150 dollars :(

I could get a copy of Windows for that much.

I wished there was a free version of the Linux Avast anti-virus software, just like there is with Win32.

More people, including me will stay with Win32 then, because not only Linux
is a major bitch when configuring modem support, but Linux can get viruses too :(.

This is a server based product. A workstation version with very different pricing model (possibly free for home users) will foloow, but it will probably need at least some basic GUI...

OK, but I'm still disappointed with Linux, because Linux is finicky when it comes to modems :(.

I look forward to a workstation version and would be happy to be a beta tester for it
