Title: Keyboard error on Boot time scan
Post by: stayblist on May 18, 2010, 11:04:25 PM
:-XI believe a virus has made it so my PC won't use a keyboard. I've tried several different keyboards, both USB & PS2 and none of them would function. The PC recognizes the new hardware and successfully loads the driver and shows a hardware profile but the actual keyboard is non-responsive and it's num-lock light will be stuck on. My Avast 5 scan found and isolated a few items but did not fix the keyboard problems. When I try to run a boot time scan, it says keyboard error and bypasses the scan. I don't want to give up on my computer yet, can I get help or suggestions on additional scanware that is assuredly safe.    THANKS

Read the instructions, download and burn (maybe from another computer), finally use one of this rescue CD's:
1. Dr. Web (http://www.freedrweb.com/livecd/?lng=en)
2. Avira (http://www.free-av.com/en/tools/12/avira_antivir_rescue_system.html)
3. BitDefender (http://download.bitdefender.com/rescue_cd/)
4. Kaspersky (http://dnl-eu10.kaspersky-labs.com/devbuilds/RescueDisk/)
5. F-Secure (http://www.raymond.cc/blog/archives/2008/07/26/free-f-secure-rescue-cd-300-to-clean-virus-from-unbootable-windows/)
