Title: Photoshop Elements
Post by: Chim on June 03, 2010, 05:13:17 PM
Have any of you all used Photoshop Elements?
I already have Photoshop 6.0.  But, a friend is contemplating getting Photoshop Elements.  She's hoping, wishing that it has the main Photoshop functions that I use in my Blog Design projects.

Does Photoshop Elements have capability for:
Bevel & Emboss
Drop Shadows
Inner Glow
Outer Glow
Feathering

Does it have any Filters?

Although Gimp does have pretty much everything she'll need probably:

Thanks, Scythe!  I had seen that page.  I'll just need to see if I can decipher the Info in there to correspond to whether the specific functions I'm curious about exist in Photoshop Elements of not.

She already uses GIMP a little bit.  Since she was having such a hard time with it, I told her Photoshop is actually more efficient, friendlier and just plain ole easier to use.  I'm pretty good with Photoshop, but my 3 or so sessions with GIMP earlier in the week left me NOT liking it one bit.  Functions that are so obvious, simple and efficient in Photoshop ... are quite the opposite in GIMP.

Well, I'll have to give you that one.  It's sort of like switching from Windows to Linux...  Basically all of the functionality is there, but you have to learn a whole new way to do everything.  If you stick with it, and read up in the docs, it becomes easier.  But it's sort of one of those things that if you don't start using it exclusively, you'll never get the hang of it.
