Hi!
As a bit of a newbie i´m wondering about the so called "unp" files and folders located in C:\Documents and Settings\Name/Local settings\Temp\_avast4_.
They turned up when i did a defrag of my drive and when i took a closer look i found that they totalled about 1.5Gb of harddrive space(which i need). What are these files/folder? And most importantly is it safe to delete them?
-
which version of avast are you using?
-
I´m using Avast version 4.1 Home Edition(registered)
-
the latest build?
The unp... file in Temp\_avast_ is a temporary file created by avast! when it's inspecting the content of some archives. These files can be freely deleted.

Ok, thanx alot, putting them in the bin with good conscience then. (Thx for a good product and fast reply)

Liquid, if you can tell us 'which' archive file produced that temporary... would it be so useful to see which files are not being automatically deleted by avast... ::)
-
Hi again! I´m not really sure what you´re asking, where they where located or what they were called? Anyway i deleted them some time ago so....
They were all named "unp" and some 9 digit number after that. There were 3 of them ranging from between 500Mb to 700Mb in size.

Forgot to mention: As i said there were 3 files in the folder and also another folder within the folder containing 2 .dll files 3 .ppd files and one .sys file, but these didn´t bother me since the total size of these only totalled 515Kb.

These ones should be deleted automatically but they were not :-\
If we can know the main archive file name and path, ie, the whole path of the *.zip or *.rar file that, when unpacked by avast to scan, were not deleted...
Never mind. If in the future you find such big files, please, keep the name of them 8)

Ok, sure, i´ll do that. Thx again
