Title: Renewing Key Version 5
Post by: ict-school on June 07, 2010, 11:52:49 AM
I'm working at a school with 250 pc's. In version 4.8 it is possible to enter a new key before the licence is expired.
The end date of the registration is set on august 1, 2010. The school is closed in july and august !! Is there a possibility to work in advance, is there another solution  ??? (if I read correctly, I will get a message 14 days in advance ??)

regards

Yes, it's possible to add a key in advance. I'm not sure but you need to ask for it to sales (at) avast (dot) com as I think the license period starts when it is generated and NOT when it is effectively added to the computer. Don't lose your two months of license ;)

Well, it seems kinda surprising that you're admitting to breaking the license conditions (i.e. using the free version illegally)... and still asking for help?

It should be good if avast could detect such conditions and block the illegal usage.

The only free antivirus, AFAIK, that can be used in a business or school is PC Tools av.

 http://free.pctools.com/free-antivirus/

You can boost it's effectiveness with http://www.threatfire.com/, it's free too.
