After having my yearly subscription end, I downloaded Avast once again and every time I try to open it, it says:
"The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log for more detail."
I have no idea what's going on and I have re-installed and rebooted it many times but still no luck. Any and all help will be appreciated. :)
Oh, and I have a Windows Vista 64bit if that's helpful. Thank you.

Thank you for your post.
I have tried downloading that and every time an error occurs.
" Error 1935.An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC90.TL,version="9.0.210228.8" /publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",processorArchutecture="x86",type="win32"'. Please refer to the Help and Support for more information. HRESULT: 0x80070424. "
:( I also have a problems with windows update, with the error code, 80070424. So I think these two are somehow connected. Any more help would be appreciated.
