Title: Strange Virus
Post by: Xtreeme2 on June 21, 2010, 08:38:07 PM
When working with the computer I got the following message from avast (see picture)

What is Safe Surf?
Is it infected?
When i scan "safe surf", avast did not detect any threats.

avast won't find anything in the safesurf.exe file as the alert is to block access to hqtms.com, considered malicious by the network shield.

Safesurf.exe would appear to be something that you have installed, have you not googled that file name, I did and get lots of hits. It would appear to be a compdo product or incorporated into another comodo product, ring any bells ?

Though there are some hits relating to it being spyware, so find the file and check its file properties and se what it says about the Company, etc.

You could always upload it to virustotal.

I haven't got the slightest idea as I have zero information on what it is on your system and how it got there.

SafeSurf.exe looks like malware.

This is the only thing I find on it, but it's not much:

Try submitting it to virustotal.com (http://virustotal.com)
