Title: Dead Space on Steam won't run with Real Time Shields active
Post by: isamuelson on June 22, 2010, 02:28:42 PM
I purchased Dead Space from Steam and when I try to run it, the screen goes black as the game starts and that's it. It hangs and I have to kill the program.

If I disable Avast Internet Security 5 (I have all the latest patches and sig file updates), then the application works.

I've checked all the logs and I've put an exception in the firewall for the application but it hasn't helped.

Why is Avast blocking this application and what settings do I need to set to allow Dead Space to run with Avast shields enabled? All my other games work fine.

Thanks!

Thanks. I'll give that a try when I get home.

Okay, I've tried putting in the Application Rules for the Dead Space.exe file. However, when I exit out, it never saves my rule. My rule constantly get's thrown away and never saved. I figured out what I had to do was to turn off the firewall, add my rule and then re-enable the firewall.

Dead Space runs fine now.
