Well my quest is that is a remnant of Symantec/Norton (or you still have it installed ?) and that is supposed to be its quarantine (not very good if avast can scan within it) and avast is detecting old detections sent to quarantine, but because of limited protection is unable to move them to the chest.

You don't say why avast can't move it to the chest, but I suspect it is error 00000005 (5) access is denied.

Have (or did) you another Anti-Virus installed in this system, if so what was it and how did you get rid of it ?

well its my uncles pc, my laptop is new n had no trouble. it was access denied. he had norton but it ran out i dont think he removed it yet. ill do it after the thorough scan. see his computer is really slow so i though avast mite make it better since he was using norton n its not the best.

there isnt much on the computer but its slow as hell. anyways i bypassed that virus for now but no double it will pick it up again. ill fully remove norton when its done then do a quick scan see if it comes up.

Norton has to be removed as it is a recipe for conflict between two resident AVs even if it has run out low level drivers will still be loaded.

A link worth looking at, which is a program removal tool that can remove the remnants of a number of different Norton Programs:
Removing your Norton program using SymNRT (http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039)
