Title: avast 5 full scan does not scan as many files as v4.8
Post by: newbie2009 on June 29, 2010, 05:03:05 PM
i note that although avast 5 full scan scans much faster it scans only a fraction of the number
of files, avast 4.8 full scan did (~90,000 vs over 200,000 files). why is this. How can I set
v 5 to scan approximately the same number of files as v4.8 did?

Archive selection (packers), heuristic sensitivity, PUPs.
Create a custom scan and add all the options above...

There is no direct comparison from any of the scans in 4.8 Quick, Standard or Thorough to the 5.0 Full scan, so you can't really compare. As Tech mentions you would have to create a custom scan to match the settings in the 4.8 scan that you did.

Then there is the Persistent and Temporary caches used to speed up scans and this would make a difference in speed, but should report the same number of files. That however, wouldn't really make a difference until you have run a couple of scans and reboots, etc.
