Title: Is this a Hijack?
Post by: Jorolat on July 24, 2004, 04:29:55 PM
Hi,

I've just re-installed Sygate Personal Firewall (free edition) and on looking at the Log Viewer I found the following:

"Application Hijacking has been detected
The application: C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashDisp.exe try to launch another application: C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\Setup\avast.setup to go to remote host download5.avast.com"

I first setup Sygate yesterday and a few minutes ago I downloaded & installed the latest build which was when I found the above.

I didn't get any warning or anything and the above is entered in the log as 'Information' - can anyone explain it please?

Regards,

John Latter

In simple words: It just means Avast is looking if there is a update for the vps or program. So nothing to worry about.

Thanks Artras!

Mind you, I wasn't worried at all

Well maybe a little bit

OK, I was panic-striken :)
