Post by: merfie on July 16, 2010, 04:20:47 AM
I'm having the above problem - the troubleshooting guide's first instruction says to access the "Command Promp" but doesn't say how nor can I find any other way to find out - any help out there?  Thanks

Which is your Windows? 98, Me, XP, Vista, 7?
Do you use any other antivirus in your computer?

Can you try to repair your installation?
Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > avast! antivirus > Remove. Then choose Repair function in the popup window (Repair).
If this does not help, can you uninstall / boot / install / boot again?

Hi there,

To find the Command Prompt (cmd.exe) first click the Start button. Then at the start menu, click All Programs, Accessories, and Command Prompt should be listed under that folder. Remember to right-click it and select Run as administrator if you are using Windows Vista.

An alternative method is to type in cmd.exe, or command prompt in the Start Search box.

Edit: You might want to try the Repair option in the Control Panel as suggested by Tech first, it fixes the problem most of the time.
