I just registered for Avast and tried to download the program. the address I went to is http://files.avast.com/iavs4pro/setupeng.exe. The message there is that I am not authorized to view this page. I have my license key, but I didn't see anywhere to put it in to download the program; I think that is inserted after the download.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think the message is "there" but at your place. My guess is that you are using Windows XP (correct me if not) and that the group/user settings prevent you from doing things or that your system is infected with one or more viruses.
1) Run a online virus scan http://www.ravantivirus.com/scan/ (http://www.ravantivirus.com/scan/)
2) Check group/user policy settings
btw, the key is not needed for downloading Avast, you insert it when it asks you for it.

http://www.ravantivirus.com/scan/ the scan doesn't launch when I press the "scan my pc" button. I definitely have a virus. Do you think that's affecting my ability to run the scan/download Avast's AV software?
