Title: offline update

Hello Forum,

I am in a condition where I need to upgrade Avast 4.1 on a system not connected to the Internet.
I downloaded the 1.5 Mb update file, but then when I ran it, it told me that it was only for Avast 4.0!

Mind you, I checked NOW and that 1.5Mb update file is no longer listed in the Update page.

How do I go about that?

There are two vps updates for Avast 4. One is for 4.0 the other for 4.1. I think you downloaded the wrong one.

4.0 http://files.avast.com/iavs4pro/vpsupd40.exe (http://files.avast.com/iavs4pro/vpsupd40.exe)
4.1 http://files.avast.com/iavs4pro/vpsupd.exe (http://files.avast.com/iavs4pro/vpsupd.exe)

I don't know where you looked, but both are still there.

If you click "Update avast! 4 VPS" on http://www.avast.com/eng/download/updates/index.html (http://www.avast.com/eng/download/updates/index.html) you will go to the page I gave you where the updates are  :D

Ok, iIdownloaded the right file yesterday, ran it on the box and got the message "VPS database is already up to date".
But again, when I start Avast!, it says that the current version of virus database is 11/06/04.

What am I doing wrong here?

This is odd  ??? It could be explained if the vps you downloaded is the same or older as the one installed, but I doubt that very much. I do however recall seeing some threads on this forum where people had the same issue. See if you can find them, they may help. If I get a bright moment, I sure will let you know.

I searched for upgrade or update in the Avast 4 Home/Pro forum, but couldn't find the thread you mentioned...  :(
