in the June 28 press release "legitimate websites outscore the adult 99:1" avast reported that "HTML:script-inf" was running wild in London. They further said that avast would have beat the stuffing out of it.

which shield would have done the work?

The web shield is very hot on hacked sites and iframe and script tag injections.
