Title: [RESOLVED] Behavior Shield is Gone? :O
Post by: GloobyGoob on August 01, 2010, 07:51:25 PM
I just checked the realtime sheilds tab and I'm missing the behavior shield. ??? I had it installed and I never changed any components... so this is weird. And the status bar is set to monitor that but the summary page still says Secured. I tried repairing avast and rebooting but it's stiill not there. I'm most likely just to uninstall and do a clean reinstall of avast but I want to know why it just "dissappears" like that. Thanks ;)

Well if the status bar is set to monitor it the only way it wouldn't notify is if you at some point removed it.

Try the same area as a repair of avast. Add Remove programs, select 'avast! Anti-Virus,' click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Change. From this window ensure that the Behaviour Shield option is checked, OK your way out and reboot. Much quicker than uninstalling and reinstalling.

Thanks DavidR, that did the trick. I am still puzzled as to why it would dissappear/uninstall itself though. ???

It shouldn't have disappeared on its own, there was some time ago where a lot of people were removing the behaviour shield as it was slowing their system (5.0.594 had behaviour shield improvements I believe). So I don't know if you were in this group who might have removed it and forgot.

Maybe Avast thought you were a good boy and thought you didn't need it.  ;D

If you feel that your issue is now resolved/fixed, please go back to the open post in this topic, click the modify button in that Post and change the title/subject, add [Resolved] to the beginning of the title so this thread can be closed.  Thank you.  ;)
