Title: avast and power mgmt ??
Post by: firstjohn3one on July 28, 2004, 06:49:22 PM
Probaby a very easy question - does the Avast program and the work it does prevent the "standby power mgmt" settings to take effect in XP Pro?  I'm trying to get my daughter's machine to 'power down' after awhile of non-use to save ole Dad some electric bills but it doesn't seem to be doing that and wonder if its because of Avast...?  Thanks...  Daddio

Teach you daughter to shutdown the pc if she leaves :D

Any application that is active prevents the computer to shutdown. After all, the power saving settings clearly say: Shutdown after x minutes of no activity.

I have avast scanning all files... the little a spins constantly...  but my pc always shuts itself down on schedule.  I have had no power management troubles.

XP Pro and no problems with power settings going into standby with avast 4 Home.
