Title: svcsys.exe [Win32: Trojan-gen]
Post by: uriel0424 on August 23, 2010, 01:50:50 PM
Hi,

I followed the suggestions as far as possible regarding Viruses.

1. The Virus was Detected when I tried to do a Backup of a Bussiness Folder to another PC. The Avast trial version on the other PC picked this up to be a Virus. I then did a full System scan and my Avast Pro Found the same! I moved it to Chest

2. I dont know what the source of this virus was and where I picked it up

3. I am not sure when the virus was downloaded or received

4. The exact filename is svcsys.exe and Avast Pro says [Win32: Trojan-gen

5. The wording Avast Pro came up with was 1 Infected file.

6. I cant use Jotti to Scan the file as its moved to Chest.

My Questions :
What do I do next ?

This page suggests that I try to edit the Registry keys but I am not familiar with fiddling in there and I dont want to brake anything :

Please Assist ? The virus is in the Chest and I don't know what to do next ?

Well i think avast does its job but if you like to ensure you are virus-free you can do those steps:

2.do a dr.web cure it scan:http://www.freedrweb.com/cureit/?lng=en (http://www.freedrweb.com/cureit/?lng=en)
3.scan with mbam:http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php (http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php)
4.post a Hijack Hunter log in this topic:http://www.novirusthanks.org/products/hijack-hunter/ (http://www.novirusthanks.org/products/hijack-hunter/)
5.we will provide a cleaning script, you should run it with Threat Killer
