do you have a firewall?

What is your firewall ?
Does it allow avastSvc.exe internet access ?
- If it does delete the entry for it and reconnect to the internet, this should force the firewall to ask permission again.

@ mrllib,

There are many reasons why the web shield blocked Internet access could have problems.  The solution you posted worked for you, but may not work for others.  You can do a Search in the forum and see for yourself as I have helped many others with this issue.

In the future, please do not add on to an old thread as this only confuses things;  please start a new thread of your own.  Thank you for your input and welcome to the forum.  :)

Regardless of the status of this thread, this 'solution' is not really a solution. All you are effectively doing is preventing anything from being scanned by the web shield. So it may as well be turned off.

Like I said, this is not a solution.

The solution is here http://marketplace-forum.com/Thread-How-to-make-internet-sharing-works-with-Avast-antivirus or here http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=68175.0  , its not the web shield.

Hope this helps

That may be fine if the Original Poster is using the AIS version of avast, unfortunately the OP didn't say and hasn't been back.

@marketplace-forum
Your post gives solution to sharing on network or connecting to other computers on network but not to access the internet. And the OP clearly says that he cannot access the internet when webshield is on.

It blocks if any malicious url is found and stops other attacks from the websites. It scans all http traffic. And the OP has clearly mentioned that webshield is the problem.

Then he should have a virus or something that the Avast is blocking the connection, he should choose ask instead of Abort connection in the "Action"  to see what is blocking the connection.

This is not true.  We are still waiting on more information from the OP before we can determine what the problem is or how to answer his question.

In the meantime, there is no need for you to suggest anything more in this thread until we hear from the OP.  Thank you for your understanding.
