Title: Most secure and deep scanning settings
Post by: Ocean Icarus on September 03, 2010, 02:32:39 PM
Which are the most secure and deep scanning settings in Avast 5? What the "scan the whole file" ("tarkista tiedosto kokonaan" in Finnish) means? Thanks in advance!

Scan the whole file means that avast! will scan entire files, every bit of them from start to end. By default, avast! is targeting specific file regions to accelerate scanning and lower resources usage without sacrificing much security.
You'll benefit more if you increase Heuristics sensitivity from Normal to High.

Recomended to use default, those who play with the settings usually end up with lots of false detections

What the "scan the whole file"
Open avast > top right corner > help senter > Scanning for virus > Scan settings

Normaly it will only scan those part of the file that is affected by virus. So if you check the box it will scan the whole file......
