Title: Help me Unistall/remove avast
Post by: ihateviruses1 on August 04, 2004, 05:39:47 AM
hello everyone i have a really big problem on my computer. I downloaded the trial version of avast or something and my key is now expired. so i installed a norton antivirus. after that ..i couldnt run norton i dont know why. i get an error message that it conflicts with avast. Whenever i try to remove avast it either says acces denied to some file or it just closes. i also cant go into my norton folder, whenever i click on it it just closes and goes back to the desktop...Can anyone PLEASE help me i would really like to delete both of them so i can install an antiviruse program fresh and new.

Your key for Avast expired. What version of Avast? If it is the home version you can get a new key for free! :D If it was the pro version you paid for the key. And that is what you have to do for Norton as well. Paying!. So Going from Avast to Norton isn't a real solution if you ask me. Either extend the license for Avast (if you have pro or one of the other paid versions) or get a new key for the home version for free.

You mentioned that you downloaded a trial version of Avast. If that is true you never needed a key to try it. So you aren't making much sense here. Please explain what really is the case here.

There's nothing wrong with the link galooma.
Almost sounds like somebodys system is infected. Having 2 AV programs on one machine is asking for trouble.

Go to where you downloaded the setupeng.exe program file and double click on it and you will get two options.  The second option to highlight is un-install.  That's all there is to remove it.
I would also go to your root directory/folder and make sure Alwil folder has been removed.  If it is still there delete it.

Alwil is not in the root directory. It's usually installed here:
C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\
