Title: "evercookie" or "extremely persistent cookie"
Post by: Hermite15 on September 22, 2010, 06:56:00 PM
the link was posted on a Linux forum http://samy.pl/evercookie/

...and I posted about it on Informaction forums (NoScript), waiting for feedback. Any comment appreciated, as long as it's relevant, i.e., "pseudo-expert analysis" unwanted, thanks.

bleachbeat might have the solution, to be verified:
http://bleachbit.sourceforge.net/

see the beta version here that takes care of evercookies:

I have used the mvps HOSTS file for quite a while, so I decided to ask them about these cookies. Here is their reply:

"EverCookies" are a type of Cookie not an entry ... yes
the majority of 3rd party Cookies are blocked in the HOSTS
file ... however you still need to reset your Cookie settings.

You can address this problem by following these instructions:

Blocking Unwanted Cookies with Internet Explorer

http://www.mvps.org/...002/cookies.htm

That's one of the reasons I use hpHosts and MVPS HOSTS files.

okay, I just gave it a shot with CCleaner >>> running CC when the browser is closed gets rid of everything, including the "evercookie" thing. At the opposite, only relying on FF4 self cleaning feature is not enough.

Except that this thread that Logos made is older don't you agree ? Now we have 2 threads about this instead of just one. If the mods here would do their job properly like they should be doing it, they would just delete the other one and move the posts into this one. Of course they don't care about that, not in the slightest. Let's just let the forum run itself is the philosophy here. Good and competent moderating is not how i would describe the moderating on this forum. They are either not here or they just don't care.
