Hello,
We use Server v4.8 extensively on our systems. Our SQL DBA wants to set up specific file and folder exclusions for the NetServer package that is deployed on the SQL boxes. I know that it is possible to add the exclusions manually to each installed instance after the fact, but this will be a pain for 25 SQL servers, and is also hard to maintain in the future.
Is there a way to roll the file/folder exclusions into a newly created custom install package? I've run through the creation wizard and it doesn't allow me to add exclusions, only add/remove providers.

i certainly hope that you use ADNM to manage the servers/workstations AV with these numbers of servers....
if so you have to create a seperate container for the sql servers where the settings have to be the same and
configure the settings for the scanner on that container, then it propagates to the servers

Yes we do use ADNM :-) I'm unfamiliar with Avast, having only worked with Mcafee and Symantec before so it wasn't obvious how to configure exclusions. I'll look into what you've described.
Thanks,
Mike.

let us hear if you found it or if you cant get it figured out
ill have a look how i did it again (been a while already, set it forget it) then

Thanks. I've had a look but I'm unsure of the format that would be acceptable in the EXCLUDE= statement. The notes I found here on the forum refer to entering paths separated by semi-colons, however I don't want to be restricted to any particular path (except for one), I want to exclude various file extensions anywhere they are found.
Can I format it with wildcards as follows?
EXCLUDE=*.snap;*.trc;*.trn;*.bak;*.ldf;*.ndf;*.mdf;*.diff;*.full;*.log;E:\MSSQL2008\MSSQL10.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\FTData
Also (on a related query) - is it possible to disable a provider through the custom.ini settings? I'd like to disable the Outlook provider on some machines temporarily.
Thanks again,
Michael.

sorry for a late reaction
on the scanning profile in the ON-ACCESS container (click properties) there is an option STANDARD SHIELD.
in a subsection there is ADVANCED, in there you can set exclusions for file extensions with wildcards as you want
im not into the ini settings, i guess in the ini you can do it, maybe one of the other users can tell something about it :)
