Title: XP Tweak?
Post by: Yezinki on October 14, 2010, 07:32:25 AM
How effective is this XP tweak. My Computer>Properties>Advanced>Performance>Setting>Adjust for best performance> Custom> Check only last 2 i.e. Use drop shadows for icon & Use visual style on windows & buttons?

This makes the browser fonts lighter & less sharp...can that be corrected by checking some other option?

Hoping to hear your experienced views.

Regards!

The tweaks do make some things faster like opening menus but whether they are necessary or not is debatable.

Comparative screenshots would help. I use Chrome and don't find the fonts light.

not sure if starting tens of topics not Avast related, and not security related even in the general topic section is quite acceptable here. Yezinki, use Google sometimes and better, go to the appropriate forums to ask your question, each software company having its own forums generally. I mean this is no computer course section, if you go on that way and if the admins here just let go as usual, this section will be filled up soon with stuff that doesn't interest people who came to talk about Avast and Windows security in the first place. I mean seriously you can't ask here for help about every single detail that you don't understand in Windows and third party software.

Well, if everyone is asking every computer-related question we could run into troubles. ;)

I agree, all though i have been responding to some of Yezinki question's there certainly has been alot of them which i feel could have been answered by googling and not clogging up the forum as much, we must have rebuilt his computer by now  ;)

What's the big deal ??? If you're tired of his or any one else's questions, simply don't answer. :)
Maybe someone else will or, if no answers are given, the post will eventually disappear.  ;D

Yes you have rebuilt my computers, for which I am grateful to all Avast members who contributed positively to my threads, but not you. If you are bit software literate stop acting smart, witty, cynical & arrogant.

Sorry Logos but the only wrong Forum is one where you can't get any good answers.
That's something that's never been a problem on this forum in all the years I've been here.
It's actually one of the reasons why I've been here this long.  :)

okay no need to post that a million times: (already found 3 of these >>> you're not a victim )

I am very grateful & thank all Avast members who contributed by their recommendations based on their practical, tried tested experiences.

Best Regards!

I know Bob , it's also a particularity on this forum that a few old members have no respect at all for what the place is meant to be , i.e. Avast forums, and not a chatting platform.

I think bob's getting to the fact that whilst the forum is FOR avast products, we still are friendly enough to answer basic computer questions if we can.

Of course, this isn't the BEST place to go for stuff like that, but we still answer the call anyway...

It's our volunteer time, if we don't want to answer the question, then we don't.

And, it should be obvious that the Avast team supports us doing this ... or else they would not allow it. It is good PR for avast.

As a receiver of general advice over many years I am very grateful to the "older" members and find it offensive that relative newbies to our forum wish to change it.
Please stop you arrogance!

I didn't look for it. If there's an "episode", ask the one who's just coming out of nowhere to tell me what I should do and not do to go back to his hole. I don't take that from anyone here, and I insist that my first comments in this thread were right and justified. Conversation is closed for me, have fun gossiping now if you want.

Personally, I have rather enjoyed Yezinki's topics, and some of the posted comments have helped me reevaluate my own system security and other third party software used.

Of course Logos is a "normal person", we are all "normal". We each have our strengths and weaknesses. We have good moods, bad moods, we're insightful one minute, stupid the next.
Any of us here at one time or another might be considered rude, inconsiderate or insulting as we post responses. We accept the faults of others because we first accept the existence of our own.
However he behaves here as if he believes that his approach, opinion and attitude is the only one to have, the only one that is "normal". Contrary approaches, opinions and attitudes are not acceptable, as he says.

It is amazing that for some time now this forum, which happens to be a support forum
for the best antivirus software avast!, seems to be infected with a virus.
I'd name this virus the virus of confrontation.
The only cure is respect, tolerance, consideration and, understanding.
I think it's time for all of us to send an update to this forum to cure itself of it's current infection.
Peace!
