Title: Avast Internet Security 5 and Windows Automated Installation Kit mount problem
Post by: tudiludi on October 24, 2010, 08:49:36 PM
Hello!

I have problem and I am 100% sure Avast! Internet Security 5 causes it. After Avast! uninstall and computer restart AIK works and after Avast! install AIK not working.

Problem: Windows Automated Installation Kit mount function not working properly and I get Error 31: a device attached to the system is not functioning. And I cannot edit mounted files.

Error:

I must get this:

I was trying turn off all Avast! modules, but it doesn't fix my problem.

What causes this problem and how solve this problem?

Edit: I test Avast! Pro and it has same problem BUT I have not problem with Avast! Free.

I upload images to postimage.org and it should be false alarm, but now I upload images to my homepage temporarly images folder. :)

Sry, I forgot: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit without SP1 beta, all updates are installed and latest Avast! Internet security.

I understand English well, but harder to create text. But I'm sure we can handle. :)

As I say in my first post I have same problem with Pro too, but program works correctly with Avast! Free. Tried disable all Avast modules, shut down Avast service, processes - no help. When I install Avast without restart computer, AIK works, but not work any more after restart. Probably Avast services works then and restrict access or something.

As I do not have Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit I will have to wait for experts to comment.

Exactly same problem with Vista Ultimate. I don't test Avast! pro and Free with Vista, but Avast! IS behaves same way. And of course I test both Windows AIK version - for Vista and for Windows 7 -> http://www.google.ee/search?hl=et&client=firefox-a&hs=Pb&rls=org.mozilla:et:official&q=+site:www.microsoft.com+windows+aik

I have Wmware workstation too with various versions of Windows. If I don't want change my system, I run virtual machine and I can test anything same way as my real system. :)

I got so many tests. ;) :D

And if you need some program report about my computer or used Windows AIK full command line, just tell me. :)
