Title: Avast is the reason?
Post by: rashad648 on October 25, 2010, 03:33:35 PM
I have read here- Avast doesnt block internet connection. But actually it is blocking my connection. I'm on XP SP3 with Chrome I cant enter any website when Avast is on. When I disable avast in enters any web page. It turns out to be avast is the reason for all of this. ::)
I use windows firewall which allows avast (avast is in exceptions list). Also I use avast free version. How I can solve this problem. ???

Thx for reply and warm welcoming. I am familiar with all related things I think other programs like winamp,Ableton or Traktor has no connection with this issue.

Quick update for my question. When I disable webshield it works. The settings are on their defaults. What are the risks of not using webshield?

You are welcome, by disabling WebShield avast will not be able to block malware coming from internet, also it will not be able to block known malware domain etc.
Even though avast guard will block some of the malware before opening in browse but still must of them will be missed if you disable webshield.

Can you please post the HijackThis log?

Please try to install, update and do a QuickScan using Malwarebytes Antimwalre as I see some bad keys in your registry:

Did you had another Antivirus prior to avast?
