Title: Trying to register
Post by: rambo1940 on October 30, 2010, 11:55:25 PM
I am trying to register via the UI.
Nothing happens,It says "Retrieving Information,Please wait"so i wait and then nothing happens
I have done it many times before quite successfully but this time it didn't work which seems very strange.
Advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

Problem sorted.
I got a key from Avast via email.Inserted key.
Is this a new feature for registration?
Before when i have done it you just clicked on "Register Now" filled in the form and you were registered

Nothing has changed in the registration process so dont know why your's would not do it. You also need to hide your email unless you want to be spammed.

There seems to be a problem with server because i'm having the same problem since yesterday evening. Retrieving information, please wait and then nothing happens where i used to get registration form.

Thanks for your advice.
It should now be hidden.

The issue is NOT resolved. Doing it the manual way solves nothing if the usual route doesn't work.

I also have this problem, in that I cannot re-register via the UI.

The usual route does work, at least it did last week...
If this is a server issue, we maybe have to wait a bit..!!??

Edit: Just in case - be sure your FW doesn't block AvastUI.exe

@ RejZoR, My comment about posting "Resolved" was for the OP who opened this thread, who made the quote above.  Please do not take offense because you now have a problem; you are not the original OP.  Thank you.

This problem doesn't seem to be fixed. I installed Avast Free yesterday and have been unable to register directly. Yesterday, I would just get a blank pop up. This morning I get to fill the form in all the way. When I click 'register' I get a pop-up telling me 'Please complete the following form'.

So, just complete the form, that's how it works... ;)

Seems I forgot to include the part where it says 'Complete the form' after I completed the form.

If you still have problems use the offline registration..!!

Well, ahem, call me embarrassed. I just realized I had something in the wrong field.

So it now works for me as well. Thanks for the replies!

I'm also trying to re-register and it is not working.  I have version 5 free and the registration is listed as expired...When I click "register now" a box pops up "retrieving information please wait"...Then nothing.

But that's the way the UI registration seems to be working.  Needs to be worked on.

I got a message saying my AVAST free antivirus was expiring and it took many tries before itbut finally allowed me to register. The first few attempts went through but I still kept getting the message.

Also, since I registered I have an orange ball and it doesn't move and hasn't given me any auto updates at all. It told me once to do a manual update myself. What gives?

Another problem I had was some things seem to have gotten through and are compromising my hard drive. I got the blue screen several times saying there were errors and that Windows was trying to fix them. Luckily, they were able to fix but I am still having problems.

A friend in the UK updated her free avast and her pc crashed. After trying to fix it they determined it was the new avast antiviurs, so they changed to something else and no problems since.

Do I have to have 5.0 or can I go back to what I had? I don't want my pc to crash. I am using Windows Vista Home.
