Hey Easthark,
It looks like something in the form does not like either the data you have entered, or have left blank.
It does not have to be the email addy thats the issue.
I have just tried the form and it worked fine for me.
Dear user,
Thank you for your interest in our new avast! BART CD. We´ll check your request and send you the further instruction soon. Incorrectly filled or incomplete forms will be ignored.
Best regards
avast! support team

hi w0mbat
:'( may be i'm not so lucky... ;D
anyway, thank man... i will try to fill the form again and again more.. until i get the software (bart)..
thanks..
-
Can you give me your email address. Not the full address, but the part from @
eg: if yours is myname@myprovider.com tell me @myprovider.com
Let's see if it is the email you are using or something else.
-
My gut feeling is that it's not the email address that's the issue.
I played with the form 4 times and managed to get it to reject it by using only a first name and things like that.
Make sure you put in full details, true or otherwise....
Either way a real person checks out your request before sending you the download details.
cheers

hi eddy..
this is the email .. @pd.jaring.my
hello w0mbat..
i have fill the form correctly.. but still can't.. with my full name.. and so on..
thanks your both.. for helping me..
-
Hmmm
Looks like it may well be the email address.
(www or mail.)pd.jaring.my will not resolve as valid domain for me.
Sending mail to info@pd.jaring.my bounces back also.
Tested this with TraceRoute and NeoTrace.
You can try by using the tracert.exe command in 2000 or XP
(Start->Run-> cmd -> tracert then type the domain.)
So yes, your email is the reason it's failing to process the form correctly for reason it does not resolve (for me anyway)
Appologies to Eddy :-\
I can only suggest another email address be tried?

The email address is valid, but it is from Malasya. Many lamers from there use jaring, and I know many site holders/irc channels and others have a block on jaring. Don't know if Alwil has that also, but it could be.
To go to jaring just use www.jaring.com it is a Malysian provider. And yes I admit, they have setup some things really out of the ordinary. For their website they use port 800 instead of the standard 80 or alternive 8080
And they don't know how to create a proper page either. ;D
-
I agree that jaring.my works, but easthark says he's using the sub-domain of @pd.jaring.my for the email, which does not resolve to an IP.
easthark, i suggest using another email address to get BART.
-
Ofcourse it doesn't resolve to a IP, it is a subdomain under their main IP. But this could be why Alwil doesn't accept the registration form.
-
Eddy, all domains, sub-domains, htttp-shttp-ftp-irc ETC have to resolve to an IP. That's how the internet works.
Try it with
http://www.avast.com = 216.12.202.5
http://forum.avast.com = 66.98.166.72
http://www.jaring.my = 61.6.32.105
http://pd.jaring.my = __________
It will not resolve for me. If it can not resolve for the email script that is on the BART application page either, it will not accept it as a valid email address.
Does it resolve for you?
cheers

With Jaring it is an internal IP not a web IP. And that can easily be hidden.
http://82.74.128.67/public/ (http://82.74.128.67/public/) and you will come on one of my systems. The 82.74.128.67 is my public IP but when you add the /public/ you will be on another system with it's own IP and you will not see this, nor can you resolve it.
A IP can be either public like in your example with the avast site/forum or local (lan, intranet). First can be seen/resolved, second one will not show (unless the network isn't setup properly)
Anyway easthark, try another non free email address and see if that is working.
-
umm...... well
In order for a sub-domain to point at an internal address or local, the sub-domain still has to be advertised to the world before it can then route to the local IP.
It -has- to be pingable at least.
http://cc600076-a.hnglo1.ov.home.nl/public/ is your web-connection with a webserver running on a local machine. And no, your local IP is not viewable. However http://82.74.128.67/ has to be pingable in order for webserver on your local machine to be found.

thanks man.. your both are the great.. but i get a headache ??? when read the reply.. i can't understan.. but anyway thanks for helping.. and i get the relpy from avast team.. and i can download bart now.. they send the mail on 16/08 .. ;D but it will only live for 15 day your both know that.. can i adjust the bios date set to the date they send the mail?? ??? because i just read my mail today 23/08.. can i?
;) your both are great.. :)
thank man.. sorry if you can't understan what i'm try to explain.. i try my best to explain in english.. :)
-
Hi Easthark,
I think Eddy and I were bored that day and playing message ping-pong :)
You can try changing BIOS date, but BART is pretty clever. It may be able to tell the date in the licence from the BART updates. ??
The 15 days is only for the updates too, that's my understanding. So you can keep using BART after that, but if you try to -update- it, it will fail.
But you can keep using it but may not pick up the latest viruses.
I think BART is a great product. The guys keep adding to it and I believe it will keep getting better.
Cheers
