Hello wli and welcome to the forum.

Try to Repair your Avast installation:
- Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > Avast Antivirus.
- Scroll down and choose Repair function in the pop-up window.
- Reboot.

Please give me some information about your machine:
1.   What is your OS, 32 or 64-bit?
2.   What version of Avast did you install?  5.0.677 is the latest version.
3.   What other security software do you currently have or did you have in the past on this machine including antivirus (AV), firewall (FW), trial versions, and other security programs?  If they were in the past, how did you remove them (the vendor's uninstaller's tool or another way)?
4.   Did this problem start all of a sudden, or just after upgrading or doing a clean install of Avast Pro?
5.   Is your machine acting normally otherwise?

When I was installing proV5.0 last night ,there was an error to show TCP/IP.
Is your firewall blocking anything for Avast?
Did you change any of the default settings of Avast?
Did you reboot after upgrading or clean install (which did you do)?

New"

just for an example,there are the same problems.
And some BBS master advised to change an AV,or to wait for new virus database,or to wait for avast updating.

  Friends Hello:

  About avast to my virtual optical drive to the waste, the antivirus software and virtual CD-ROM software conflicts. Sometimes the antivirus software is a mandatory written to the registry "rogue software", if the antivirus is not strong, there would be no false positives, kill soft often conflict with other software, not the operating system. Many problems are caused by kill soft.

  Recommendations:

  1. a second option. Some time to install the upgrade virus database.

  2. be sure to install a virtual CD drive, temporarily install other antivirus software. For example: installation · 360 antivirus New "

So, what this is saying is that Avast is reporting that your virtual cd is being detected as malicious? Or is it that something contained within is malicious? Are you thinking this is a false positive? What were the full details of the error message? Is everything normal when the virtual cd is uninstalled? Is the translation above the exact same problem that you are having? Have you tried running Malwarebytes Free edition to see if there is any harmful malware on your computer?

Did you read this? Need to know if the webcam is functioning properly (enabled, disabled, corrupt driver, current driver, error, etc.)..... Go to Control Panel and open Device Manager and see if there are any errors. Can you start your webcam without using MagicCam or Softcam?

Disregard :-[ I didn't notice that you had an error message at install.

Since there was an error reported when you installed the new version of Avast, I recommend a clean uninstall using the Avast uninstall tool http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility and a fresh install. Make sure you use the uninstall tool for both version 4 and 5 since you have had both installed on your computer.

First download and run Malewarebytes Free to check for any malware that may have caused the problem with the install. http://www.malwarebytes.org/ Make sure you update it before performing a full scan.

You have several options:

Try a Repair of Avast to see if this fixes your problem:
- Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > Avast Antivirus.
- Scroll down and choose Repair function in the pop-up window.
- Reboot.

If the Repair fails, you need to Uninstall Avast and do a CLEAN install:

1. Save a copy of newest version of Avast (5.0.677) for the version you need and save it to your HDD:
Free – http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/setup_av_free.exe (http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/setup_av_free.exe) - (multi-language version)
Pro –  http://www.avast.com/pro-antivirus#tab4 (http://www.avast.com/pro-antivirus#tab4)
2. Download the Avast Uninstall Utility, aswClear5.exe http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility) and save it to your HDD (it has uninstall tools for both 4.0 and 5.0).
3. Disconnect from the Internet at this time.
4. Go to Control Panel and uninstall Avast through Add/Remove Programs if possible and reboot.
5. If Step 4 fails, boot into Safe Mode (http://Safe Mode) (hit F8 repeatedly) and run the Avast Uninstall Tool.  You will need to uninstall all versions of Avast at this time.
6. Reboot.
7. Install the newest version of Avast and reboot.
8. Get Internet access and register your copy or add the license key for Free, Pro.
9. Update the Avast definitions.
Knowledge based article for uninstall/install of Avast:
https://support.avast.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=504#idt_0003 (https://support.avast.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=504#idt_0003)

If you continue to have problems after the new installation, then we need to look for malware causing your problem:

Check your computer for malware with Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware (MBAM).
·   Download free http://www.malwarebytes.org/ (http://www.malwarebytes.org/) (the blue button) for an on-demand scanner.
·   Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
·   After install, click update so you have latest database before scanning.
·   Under Settings:
o   General: Automatically Save File After Scan Completes is checked off
o   Scanner Settings:  Check all boxes
o   Updater: Download and install update if available is checked off
·   Once the program has loaded, select "Perform FULL Scan", then click Scan.
·   The scan may take some time to finish, so please be patient.
·   When the disinfection scan is complete, a log will appear in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart. (See Extra Note).
·   Click the “remove selected” button to quarantine anything found.  You will find the infection details under the Quarantine tab.
·   The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
·   Copy & Paste the entire report in your next reply.

Try the Repair first and reboot.  If this does not work, then do the uninstall/clean install and reboot.  If this does not work, then download and run a full MBAM scan and post your log for us to review for malware.  Thank you.

the software you said I cannot download.I think there must be conflict between avast & virtual camera,or virtual tools.Because of it I have changed a AV of Kingsoft.Waiting for updateing.wht a shame. :-[ I prefer to avast!But you cannot solve it. Why V4.8 can use both of the 2 software(Magiccamera & softcam)?I thought V5.0 the program had a little changes.

the software you said I cannot download.
If you are having difficulty downloading software, then this is not an Avast issue.  This is why I wanted to rule out malware on your machine.

In addition, you continue to think that the problem is a conflict with 2 of your software and Avast, but you never gave us a chance to complete our trouble shooting.  I think that you will find after trying to download some other software that you will continue to have problems.

We are more than happy to continue working with you if you are willing to work with us to help resolve your problems.  Thank you.

Check your computer for malware with Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware (MBAM).
<snip>
·   Click the “remove selected” button to quarantine anything found.

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Thunder (Trojan.Agent) -> No action taken.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SogouExplorer (Adware.Sogou) -> No action taken.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\StartMenuInternet\SogouExplorer.exe (Adware.Sogou) -> No action taken.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\SogouExplorer (Adware.Sogou) -> No action taken.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\snda\Woool (Spyware.OnlineGames) -> No action taken.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\SogouExplorer (Adware.Sogou) -> No action taken.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Security Center\AntiVirusDisableNotify (Disabled.SecurityCenter) -> Bad: (1) Good: (0) -> No action taken.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Security Center\FirewallDisableNotify (Disabled.SecurityCenter) -> Bad: (1) Good: (0) -> No action taken.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Why did you not let MBAM quarantine the infections you listed?  Your log says "No action taken?"

Sometimes people with cracked versions of Windows display this as well as people with actual malware.  I need to ask...Are you using a cracked/pirated version of Windows?  If you are using legit version of Windows, please update MBAM again and do the scan again, but this time any infection that comes up, put it into quarantine.  Post your new MBAM log.  Thank you.

Instead of typing in your system information, follow the directions I wrote and this way you won't have to type it in again...it will come through automatically with every post.  :D

Question:  I see you typed in "360."  Are you using IObit 360?

I was thinking the exact same thing. wli, if you do have iobit 360 on your system it would be wise to delet it as you cant have two av's on the same machine, running or not.

because i also use it in my sp2, for the reason that unsupported OS open to foreign software so you need to make ghost and every time you boot it load the same as fresh install. won't you believe it will give you a lot of problem if your OS is un supported?? its always malfunction. the problem of yesterday become the problem of today because of the OS.

I did some research:  You are running 3 antivirus programs on your machine which is causing your problems.

360 (Translation): "Security guards with killing Trojans, clean plug-in, fix bugs, computers and other physical features, and created a "Trojan firewall" function, relying on cloud detection and identification of the first to be comprehensive, intelligently blocking all kinds of Trojans, to protect users account, privacy and other important information. Currently trojan virus has far exceeded the threat of a large, 360 security guards cloud security technology used in the interception and the effect of killing Trojans, speed and outstanding performance on the professional, can effectively prevent personal data and privacy by stealing Trojan, known as " Trojan's first choice to prevent. " 360 security guards themselves are very lightweight, and also have the power to accelerate, optimize garbage collection and other system functions, can greatly accelerate the speed of the computer, containing the 360 software also helps users to easily download butler, upgrade, and uninstall various software applications strongly."

Plus you also have a Kaspersky product installed with this boxed 360 version, but I do not know what it is.

Either way, it is a security software with an antivirus that is conflicting with Avast.

You need to make a decision to either keep Avast or keep 360, because you cannot run more than 1 antivirus software on your machine at the same time or there will be problems like you are having now (other programs not running, antivirus not running correctly, getting false positives, machine not running correctly, etc.).

So you need to decide what you want to do.  If you decide to uninstall 360, you need to do it the way the vendor (the boxed version) tells you how to do it.  Then reboot your machine.

Then you should Repair Avast:
- Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > Avast Antivirus.
- Scroll down and choose Repair function in the pop-up window.
- Reboot.

If the Avast Repair does not fix things, we will then tell you how to uninstall and do a clean install of Avast.  But I first want to hear what you decision will be as I do not want to overwhelm you with instructions.  Thank you.

There were updates and changes from Avast 4.8 to 5.0 plus there were updates to your other AV 360.  You still have more than 1 AV running in your machine.  See here why you cannot have more than 1 AV running in your machine:
- Clash Of The Antivirus Apps:
http://www.smartcomputing.com/editorial/article.asp?article=articles/2003/s1407/38s07/38s07.asp
- Why you should never run more than one AV (see reply from quietman7):
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/index.php?s=49db784baecf17e7b189c833aafb624d&showtopic=260844&view=findpost&p=1441638

You said in a previous post that when you installed Kingsoft firewall that MBAM no longer works, and this is not normal.  But MBAM found infections that still need to be put into quarantine.  Can you try turning off your firewall to see if MBAM works?  Remember you need to UPDATE MBAM before running a FULL scan, and put any infection that comes up into quarantine.  If MBAM still does not work, then you need to uninstall Kingsoft for MBAM to work; you can turn on the Windows Firewall for protection in the meantime.  We need to get the malware (infections) out of your machine.  The infections could be causing problems too.

You never answered my question earlier if you are using a cracked (pirated) software of anything on you machine...are you?

I think that untill the OP has removed all av's from system and reinstalled just one av his problem will never be solved, you definatly can't have any more than one.
Im not going to help someone that wont try to help themselves.

i rather leave sp2 behind than upgrade it  ;D. sometime OS upgrade create a lot of conflict ;)

We are trying to help you, but you need to also follow the directions we are giving you.  You need to do the following:

1. As a test, uninstall Kingsoft firewall and turn on Windows firewall.  Then update MBAM and run a scan.  This time, any infection that comes up you need to put into quarantine.  The last time you ran MBAM, you "No action taken" meaning you did not put it into quarantine, so the infections are still on your machine.  I need you to quarantine these infections.  Reboot your machine after this is done.  If Avast is still on your machine, see if it works and report back.

2. At some point, you need to decide which antivirus you are going to use since you cannot use both 360 and Avast....but before you do this we need to get the infections off your machine with MBAM.

Do you understand my instructions?

Either way, it [360] is a security software with an antivirus that is conflicting with Avast.

Hi wli :)

So you are claiming that only the presence ( installation ) of the Avast! sandbox was causing your problems ??? Are you sure you were not using the sandbox for something ( else ) when you had those problems ???

Greetz, Red.

As I said earlier, you have malware that needs to be removed.  And to remove it, we need to do a test:

- You need to uninstall Kingsoft firewall and turn on Windows firewall.  Then
- Update MBAM and run a scan.  This time, any infection that comes up you need to put into quarantine.  The last time you ran MBAM, you "No action taken" meaning you did not put it into quarantine, so the infections are still on your machine.  I need you to quarantine these infections.
- Reboot your machine after this is done.
- If Avast is still on your machine, see if it works and report back in your next post.

@ wli, If you want to continue help with this thread, please delete the "Resolved" in front of the title on the first page of the thread...thank you.

I cannot work on your machine.  You need to do the instructions we give you or you need to bring your machine to a professional computer technician with a copy of this thread so he/she knows what we have told you since they probably will not be familiar with what is going on.

What are you using for an antivirus now?

May I ask why you do not want to follow our suggestions?

it cost me too much time to do it install-reinstall and so  on,I am tired that now the system is stable,and the 2 softwares can work normally,so i dont want to do it to waste my time.After all ,i am only a Avast Customers,yet not a Avast Technician.I dont want to know why it is,I only want to know /solve why it doesnt work and how to solve.
I am using Avast ,360,and have no the other securitysoftwares.I had reinstall my Windows sp3 system.
Thanks all of u for answering and helping me.I thought my question is the Avast Technician`s should to solve,because not only me said the sandboxie still needed to improve.I already have seen that someone mentioned the Q of Avast`s virtual function needing to improve.
