I am very happy with Avast and am using it on two PC's. I have a family member that needs to be tracked to keep him "out of harms way". I would like to use a keylogger program, but I can't use it without pausing the Standard Shield. I tried adding the location of the program under the Advanced tab of the Resident Task Settings, but no go. How can I tell Avast to allow the intrusion?

If you have XP, create a user account for "him" and setup the group/user policy so he can't do harm. Much better way. No need to bring a security risk to your comp with a keylogger.
Look HERE (http://www.markusjansson.net/exp.html) for many security options you can set.
Using a keylogger will not "keep him out of harms way". He first does things, gets in trouble and only then you see it. Better prevent him from getting into troubles.

Adding the path to the list of exclusions for the Standard Shield should work. What is the exact path / filename?
