Title: Run Time Query
Post by: dooley on August 16, 2004, 11:37:37 AM
Just a query on the  time it takes to do a thorough scan including archive files, my last scan as follows.     Total files 58839......Total folders  1796......Total size 6.1 G......Run time  49 minutes.  O/S Win. ME,  384 mb ram,  20 gb h/d.
Is this about the average time?,  not that it is any problem, Avast av is tops. Thanks D.

No way to tell, there are more factors involved. cpu speed, processes/applications while scanning, drive speed, chipset, defragmentation of the drive, how many archives, size of archives, where there temp files etc etc etc.....

Speed is not important. Better slow and good than fast and missing things  ;)

Dooley, not too much to add what Eddy said but 49 minutes seems normal for me...  ;)
