It's not what you've un-installed but what did you install ???

... but what did you install ???
Hi bob,
perhaps a new/another av-program???!!!  ???

@wishoek

I think an avast-service is further working on your laptop, because avast is not completly uninstalled.

Try this:

Install avast again and reboot.
Then use the avast-uninstall-tool in safe mode(!!!).
Reboot.
Now use CCleaner to clean the pc from the rest of avast.
Reboot again.

Does your laptop now connect to wireless network?

To properly uninstall avast,
First use the add/remove function in windows. Reboot and then use the avast! removal tool to remove the rest of avast!.
