Title: Does this feature exist?
Post by: janocomp on August 17, 2004, 10:09:22 PM
I've looked, I can't seem to find the options for settings preferences for actions when a virus is found so you don't have everything stop everytime a virus is found.

For example:
If a virus is found do the following:
1) clean file
on error
2) delete file
on error
3) move/rename file
etc...

Prompting for each occurrence can render a computer unusable! when one of those stupid email worms is going around you can spend your whole day clicking "delete" every few minutes. I know this setup must exist, but I can't find it.

Anyone else find this?

Hi janocomp, welcome to the forums.

Yes it does, in a very limited way in the Home (free, only allows you to send to chest) version and is fully configurable in the Pro version.

Check out the avast help file Resident Protection - Internet Mail Protection - "Advanced" page.

See image for example settings.

When the first infected file is found, click on "don't show this screen"

janocomp, this is exactly what avast Professional version does: automated sequence of actions when a virus is found.
In Home version (free), you can only send the file to Chest like David posted...  ;)
