Title: Avast IS & Adobe Flash Player
Post by: faircot on December 14, 2010, 04:31:00 PM
I've just won a licence for the suite in the Winter Promotion (Thanks Avast. Very generous!).

However, if I try to access the stats from Summary/Stats I'm presented with a box telling me "to view charting install Adobe Flash Player." Nothing happens when I click the 'install now' button. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the latest version of Flash Player (10.1) and uninstalled/reinstalled IS (v 5.0.677) but still not able to view any stats.

Welcome faircot

Congratulations.

Make sure you have Adobe Flash Player uninstaller: uninstall_flash_player.exe
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html

Note:
Important! If any applications are using Flash Player when you run the uninstaller, uninstall can complete without deleting all the necessary files. If you accidentally left any applications open, close all applications and run the uninstaller again. Applications that use Flash Player include the following:

web browsers such as Internet Explorer
instant messaging clients such as AOL Instant Messenger
stand-alone SWF applications (*.swf files)
projectors (*.exe files that play Flash content).

No luck. I rebooted to safe mode, ran the Adobe uninstaller, rebooted normally, pushed the stats tab, selected Install Adobe Flash Player and was taken to another screen that simply said 'Refresh Window'. That took me back to the Install Flash Player dialogue etc, etc.
Forgot to say, I'm running Win 7 32 bit.
