Title: Latest AV Comparatives Retrospective Test
Post by: Jack91 on December 15, 2010, 05:35:10 PM
Just read the latest AV Comparatives Retrospective report, and Avast came second from the bottom in detection rate followed by PC Tools. Doesn't change my view of the software, I will always use Avast it's a great piece of software. I guess there has been some crafty new malware out.

Did you notice that the version of avast that they tested was quite old 5.0.594, unless there using the current version these test's mean diddly squat.
As to why they use an old version when the test's were run on the 6th of december who know's ???

well avast never was the best in retrospective tests but the version they used is pretty old as craigb noticed..BUT,i think avast should improve a little its heuristics(at least in the free version coz in the paid version it has sandbox which can protect you from threats that are not detectable yet)..if you keep your program fully updated and be a bit cautious on what youre downloading and where youre surfing then i dont believe that youre gonna have any problem ;)
