i jus downloaded your free trial of avast home edition what do i have to do when i get an virus on my computer

First: send any file to Chest for further analysis... if your computer works without that file, if you were sure that file is a virus and so on...
After that, you can try to repair the original file, if it fails, remove it.

Hi easygoing, welcome to the forums.

I would suggest that during a period of calm, before you receive your first warning make yourself familiar with the program.

Browse the avast Help file, and browse these forums, two good places to start would be the User's FAQ (http://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=9;action=display;threadid=4818) and the General Advice & Tools for virus/trojan/malware removal (http://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=4;action=display;threadid=5373) threads.
