What browser do you use? I ask I have seen that avast doesn't "accept" all browsers. Could you also give more information. What version of avast do you use and what browser do you use.

Regards,

Please check the options in Settings / Troubleshooting / Redirect settings - is it set correctly?

Hi logo, can you post a list or screenshot from the dialog Igor has mentioned (with the list of redirected ports)?

Thanks.
Lukas.

Well the new 5.1.864 version of avast should be able to work with multiple ports now and not with the old port 80, you used to have to add the port as Igor mentioned.

Please check the options in Settings / Troubleshooting / Redirect settings - is it set correctly?

Effectively that would have to have port 8081 included in the list, that is what you should be checking, see image example of mine, which has port 8081 set as one of the HTTP ports.

Now unless your proxy is using a different protocol (not HTTP) possibly a VPN then I don't know if even with port 8081 listed it would work.

Interestingly your image of the webshield.ini has port 8081 listed, so I'm thinking there must be a VPN at work here. Or some other form of control/restriction.

If you don't use what proxy, 8081 ?
I though that was mandatory for your school or something, so why did you actually use it as a special proxy ?

There has to be something which is conflicting with the web shield if when you disable the 8081 proxy port the web shied works.

Yes, but why do you have/want to use port 8081 ?

I'm trying to get at why it might not work, if you use it for use with another application, VPN or anonymous browsing, etc. then that is likely to be using a protocol other than HTTP and the web shield can't handle that protocol.

Update, in my last image, click to expand, You will see Ignore local communication.

If you want to use port 8081, you might need to uncheck that option.
