Title: AV (free) 5.1.864 right-click tray icon UPDATE seems to behave different
Post by: jcoltrane on January 02, 2011, 10:37:02 PM
Seemed that in 5.0.677, if you right-clicked on the AVAST! icon, went to UPDATE and picked (say) ENGINE & VIRUS, that the update would be attempted and versions compared, etc. With 5.1.864, the UPDATE page is shown, but no action occurs?

Hi jcoltrane: Mine does the same. You then have to choose the action (what you want to update).
I believe this to be normal. :)

The same here.

I missed last week Beta testing, but I don't think this is normal.

My point is... I think it previously (5.0.677) would immediately attempt the UPDATE  operation chosen via the TRAY icon context menus. Now it doesn't DO anything, you need to chose the update operation once in the UPDATE page. Seems like a bug or why have the context menu show 2 types of UPDATES if it won't do either until you get to the UPDATE page. Seems like something got broke.

You already chose the action from the tray icon(Engine and virus definitions or Program), after you do that you have to chose again. Don't think that's an upgrade from previous versions. They will probably fix it in the near future.

Lets wait if one of the Developers will answer, I have no idea if they are aware of this issue. Otherwise I will contact them tomorrow.
