Post by: Avastfan1 on January 04, 2011, 05:04:23 PM
Dear Forum,

Q: Which scan do you consider to be most effective?

1. Boot-time scan
2. Quick scan
3. Full system scan

Q: What is the major difference between a boot-time scan and a full-system scan?

Q: How does a boot-time scan compare with a full system scan? For example, detection of rootkits, memory-resident viruses......

Q: Which scan do you consider to be most effective?
what do you mean by effective?

It is all explained here:
Open avast! > Help Center (top right corner) > Scanning for viruses > Running a predefined scan and Boot time scan

Is a full-system scan more comprehensive than a boot-time scan?

You use boot time scan when you have detected something that avast! have difficult removing

as i understand it does not give better detection only better removal. If it was giving better detection then every AV vendor would use it, they don`t....
