Title: AIS Question
Post by: Cutie Mark Surprise on January 07, 2011, 07:46:08 PM
I want to try out the AIS version of Avast. Will I have to uninstall the Free Version or will that install over the top of it? Just wondering.

Thank you and I was curious about that. Does it pop up a box about how many more days there is in your trial? I'm not familiar with that version.

if you have license then just enter *.license file and click OK. Then it willl automatically upgrade to AIS.

Since 'Prince Winter Flurry' is going to use the trial version, there is no license to enter.

Will it pop up a box showing how many days is left in your trial or not? Just wondering.

Before a trial version can be run as far as I'm aware you will have to uninstall the free version (as that is the registered version), reboot and install the AIS Trial.

@ 'Prince Winter Flurry'
The trial period is 30 days, I would imaging that you would get a notification near to the time. At that point you would have to either purchase a license to enter, or enter free registration key (you would need that see ~~~ below), or do a clean reinstall of avast free.

~~~
Web site (Off-line) Registration rather than using UI Registration (which wouldn't be available in the AIS UI) see support.avast knowledgebase article 459 (http://support.avast.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=459#idt_02) - http://www.avast.com/registration-free-antivirus.php.
It will tell you how many days you have left in the Summary page. There is also some sort of "countdown" bar that will deplete over time.
