Title: Avast Internet secutiry breaks NIC?

After installing internet security, settings on moderate [however, settings do not alter problem]
NIC status shows 0 bytes in and out....
If I remove NIC from hardware mangler, then rescan for
new hardware, OS finds and installs NIC and everything
works again, until next reboot....

Help?
