Title: Multiple SMTP used howto configure
Post by: gargoyle on August 29, 2004, 01:48:31 PM
I have done a search on this subjuct and find the result confusing.

In the wishlist for 4.5 is
Multiple SMTP

However in the posts I see that you can set up for multiple SMTP.  However I can not figure out how this is to be done.

I have tryed the suggestions in the post but still can not get my server to recognize my login or password.

Here is what I have

TB 0.7.3
Win98SE
POP #1 = Flxtek.net
POP #2 = tiyogi.com
SMTP #1= Flxtek.net
SMTP #2=Tiyogi.com

So can I set it up to check both of these SMTP accounts or do I have to wait until Avast 4.5 comes out?

avast supports multiply smtp since earlier builds of version 4. No need to wait for 4.5.
Configure your email accounts.
Close your email program.
Run Mail Protection Wizard and allow automatic protection.  ;)

If aVast does multiple SMTP's then why is it in the wishlist for the next version?

I have done The mail wizard.
Should it have changed the POP server to 127.0.0.1 ?
It so, it has not.
If it should be 127.0.0.1 should I manually enter it into the Pop server name?

If I click on the Blue A icon it say
Scanned count   :2

What does this mean?

I have 7 email account and 2 sets of POP & SMTP's.
How will I be able to tell all the counts are being protected?

I'll aswer what I know...

Maybe this 'wish' is from version 4.0 and not 4.1  ::)

Yes, it should be changed.
Which email program do you use? Is it supported by avast?

Do you add a note into clean email messages that you sent/receive?
Do you see an icon on the system tray while proccess emails?

Do you see X lines into the email headers similar to these ones?
X-Antivirus: avast! (VPS 0432-2, 04/08/2004), Inbound message
X-Antivirus-Status: Clean
