Title: avast not in taskbar

avast pro is not in taskbar at bottom rt. Cannot find where to change settings to get it to auto protect.

See if the AEC (http://freeweb.siol.net/razor256/downloads/avast_external_control.zip) can solve the problem.

If not, go to control panel > add/remove > Avast > choose repair.

If even that fails (not likely) get the Avast Uninstall Utillity (http://www.avast.com/eng/download/programs/avast_uninstall_util.html), remove Avast with it, reboot and reinstall
