Title: Avast (GUI) crashes sometimes on resume from sleep (VISTA)
Post by: dalchina on January 26, 2011, 06:34:39 PM
Hi, I've noticed this enough times to think it's worth posting..

Faulting application AvastUI.exe, version 5.1.889.0, time stamp 0x4d2ebb9b, faulting module shldlgs.dll, version 7.0.0.0, time stamp 0x2a425e19, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x00001c41,
process id 0xbdc, application start time 0x01cbbd1f17157870.

(from the event log).

-I've not checked to see if it's always a similar message..
I did a quick search on sleep and resume here; saw nothing obvious but there were a lot of results so this may have been answered..sorry if so..

Thanks! DL

Do you have shell toys installed?

Hi DavidCo - appreciate the reply..

yes, I do..  I was thinking it might be some sort of conflict, binary chop id problem via msconfig..

but thought I'd ask here first as that would be so awkward to do as it's an erratic problem.

Is it still folder based, just thinking that if so a back-up/uninstall would be reasonably easy

Uninstall shelltoys?  - sure, possible..  I most often use it for quick access to folders in the few dialogue boxes where Fileboxextender added buttons aren't available.

Or I could just stop it launching with Autoruns..

Any reason to suspect shelltoys?  Thanks..
