i have to renew my avast not upgrade, just renew. now doe renewing require me to uninstall avast then reinstall? or i do just need a new activation key when i renew?

What avast version are you using 4.8 or 5.x ?

No, you shouldn't have to uninstall.
Which numerical version of Avast do you have? 4.8... 5.0...

lol, i have 5.1 internet security its called. i always have trouble w the activation key, i hope a renewal isnt that hard

You should just have to input your license file that you should have received ?
It is called license.avastlic and you save it to your hard disk (and back it up) where you can find it again, double click on that file and avast should do the rest.

ok thanks a lot, i have a few days til it expires, im prepping myself for the renewal. i guess i can back up the license on a flash drive?

Yes, whilst it is possible to have it resent to you, it is always worth making a backup.
